Brookhollow Elementary Library Rules and Fine Schedule
All students have the opportunity to visit the library at least once a week with classes for stories, lessons, and book selection. Students in Second through Fifth grade may also come individually during the afternoon open times to check out books. Small groups of students are welcome to use the library for study and research throughout the day.
Selecting a book to read can be one of the most enjoyable times of a child's day. It is important that students keep up with their library books, so they do not miss out on this precious opportunity. Occasionally students and parents have questions about fines and overdue items. Hopefully the information below will answer some of these questions.
Students in Kindergarten are allowed to check out one book each week.
Students in 1st-5th grade are allowed to check out a maximum of 2 books.
All books are due a week from the date checked out.
Fines are NOT charged for overdue or late materials. Students are not allowed to check out if they have overdue books on their accounts. As soon as the books are returned, or paid for if lost, then the student can resume checking out books from the BES library.
Books that are overdue for two months will be considered lost and students will be asked to pay for those items. The fine/charge assessed will be for the price of the book as listed in the library system, or the replacement price for a library bound book from a library vendor. Fees for the spine labels, barcodes and other charges included in processing library materials may be charged up to 2.00 in addition to the cost of the book. Should the item be paid for, and later found and returned, the amount paid will be refunded as long as it is returned prior to the end of the subsequent school year. ( ex. Lost paid Oct. 2006 must be back by end of 2008 school year to receive refund) The processing fees are non-refundable.
Books that are damaged will be charged the price of the book as listed in the library system or the replacement price for a library bound title from a library vendor. Examples of common damages requiring replacement are items chewed on by family pets, and liquid spills.
Minor tears, and barcode damage will be reviewed at the time of return and charges or fines will be accessed if necessary.
