Cornerstone Connections - Connally High School - 2007 - 2008

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Friends,

At the conclusion of this letter, you will find the primary topics that we will cover extensively through this class. These focused areas of study provide students the opportunity for academic, personal and career development.

The Connections class is designed to lay a strong foundation for your student to succeed in high school and in life. It is my goal to provide them the tools necessary to reach and exceed their potential.

I invite you to join me in this process of helping your student increase their potential, set meaningful goals, and explore the unlimited possibilities for his/her future. How might you be active in this process?

  • Talk to your students about their goals beyond high school graduation.
  • Encourage extracurricular activities and involvement at Connally to build their sense of belonging in school and share their talents with other students contributing to Cougar Pride.
  • Support your students in this journey of self awareness and discovery.

Next year will be the start of the Career Academy structure at Connally High School. At the conclusion of the freshman year, your freshman students will be asked to choose a career academy. The career academy decision will be made based upon student insights learned in the Cornerstone Connections course, family discussion, and student interest. Within each academy, each student will be introduced to pathways of courses that will allow them to explore a career area in greater depth. While students are engaged in career-focused courses, they are encouraged to continue to take both a rigorous and relevant academic course load. The academic courses and career and technical education courses are complimentary to one another and will allow students to become immersed in a well-rounded curriculum.

Thank you for your cooperation. I look forward to working with each of you as we work together to teach your students that every decision they make affects their future.
