Counselors

Dessau Elementary is very fortunate to have two counselors this year, Courtney Cardosa and Sandra Sebesta.
Mrs. Cardosa courtney.cardosa@pflugervilleisd.net About Me: This is my 7th year as a counselor at DES. I have been in PISD for 10 years. I have a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling and also have my Licensed Professional Counselor Certification. I am currently seeing students, but I am providing individual and group counseling to students that are referred to me. I am also acting as testing coordinator for our school. This role allows Mrs. Sebesta the ability to focus less on testing during the spring and more on continuing counseling services for our children! I am at DES part-time. My working days are Wednesdays, Fridays, and every other Monday. I have two beautiful children at home, which is why I have chosen to continue in this position. My son just turned 4, and I have a 17 month old daughter. There are not many dull moments in my life! I am excited that I am able to spend more time with my children while remaining at DES. Dessau is a wonderful community in which I am blessed to be a part of! Mrs. Sebesta sandra.sebesta@pflugervilleisd.net About your Counselor: My mission is to make sure our students have the support needed to have the best education possible. I will do this through Guidance Lessons in each of the classrooms, Individual counseling and Group counseling. 1. Guidance Lessons are lessons with the whole class in which we discuss issues that will benefit them not only in school but outside of school as well. We discuss topics such as bullying, peer pressure, friendship, goal setting, social skills, etc. 2. Group Counseling is where I will meet with a group of students, no more than 6, and discuss social skills, anger management, friendship, grief and loss, etc. Groups usually last about 6-8 weeks. 3. Individual Counseling is on an as needed basis.
