Our 7th and 8th grade Choir students who attended the "Alamo Showcase" Music Festival did very well in the competition. They received a rating of SUPERIOR. They did a great job and represented DMS well. We commend these students on their success!

The Symphonic and Beginning Band participated in the Schlitterbahn Soundwaves competition on Saturday, May 3rd in New Braunfels. Symphonic Band won a trophy for their Excellent ratings at the competition. Beginning Band won a trophy for their Superior ratings and was awarded another trophy for their Best in Class performance at this event!! We congratulate these children on their fine performances!! If you would like to hear these amazing youngsters perform, our next concert is on May 15th at 6:30 PM.

The 7th & 8th grade girls participated in the district track meet 4/2 & 4/3. The 7th graders placed 3rd in team totals and the 8th graders placed 5th. Several girls broke some Dessau track records:
- Jamie L. broke the record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:44 and in the 300 meter hurdles with a 52.73.
- The mile relay team (Lauren P., Caren B., Zoey H. and Jamie L.) beat the previous record with a 4:36 time.
- Cayla B. set our mile record with a 6.57.

Our advanced girls choir will be performing tonight at Hendrickson High School Performing Arts Center and everyone is welcomed to attend. This is part of our Pre-UIL Concert in preparation for UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest coming up in April. All 5 middle school choirs will be performing our UIL pieces for judges who will critique us so as to improve before our April 17th date. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. and we are the second choir to perform this evening.

Our Symphonic Band (with seventeen students who began playing at the beginning of this year!!) was awarded EXCELLENT Ratings (II) at UIL in Concert and Sight Reading on Thursday, March 6th. Our Wind Ensemble was awarded a Sweepstakes trophy for receiving a SUPERIOR Rating (I) in both Concert and Sight Reading at the same festival. |
