Sixth Graders Visit Mark Strama

The 6th grade students of Dessau Middle School, part of the Pflugervillle Independent School District, recently enjoyed a visit to the Texas State Capitol that included an opportunity to meet with Representative Mark Strama, House District 50. Representative Strama provided valuable information to the students about how they have the power to participate in the law making process, giving a powerful example of a 10 year-old Pflugerville resident who initiated a bill in the Texas Legislature, and with Representative Strama’s support, the bill was passed and signed into law. He encouraged the students to become an active part of the government telling them now is the time to think about how each one of them can impact the future of Texas. Thanks to this exciting visit with Representative Strama, some of these students might be representing the Pflugerville area in the future!
