May 2008
Dear Hendrickson Hawks and Families, Hendrickson High School just finished a week of TAKS testing, like every other campus in the state of Texas. The week went as smoothly as any week of testing in my experience. The students and staff handled the anxiety and logistical challenges superbly. I trust that our results, which will be known in about a month, will reflect the hard and learning-focused work we have been engaged in all year. Our extracurricular events are now beginning to wind down. We have had several notable successes this spring. Our UIL Academic Team finished 2nd at the Region 4 meet, with several students qualifying for the state meet. We have two qualifiers to the National Forensics meet this summer. One boy and several girls have qualified for the state track meet (our girls track team finished 2nd at the regional meet). We have one national qualifier in the Business Professionals of America competition. Our softball team is, as I write this letter, in the second round of the state playoffs. There have been many other successes, both small and large, on our campus. It has been a good spring for the Hawks. We are now in the midst of preparing for final exams the first week of June, with graduation on June 6, 2008 (9:00 a.m. at the Shoreline Center). Many of our students will be taking Advanced Placement exams over the next two weeks. We are also busy planning for next year: hiring new personnel, building a master schedule, making plans for facilities improvements, hosting incoming 9th graders, scheduling registration, etc. The pace is quick at Hendrickson High School in the spring. Through it all we are intent on staying focused on learning, our primary objective. We continue to make improvements toward optimizing the learning for students and staff as well as improving the delivery of services on the campus. We want to be a WORLD CLASS school that our students proudly attend and that provides them with the best education on the planet. The school web site, http://www.pflugervilleisd.net/HHS/index.cfm, is your best source of information concerning campus activities. Please monitor this site frequently as new information is added regularly. Nelson Coulter Principal, Hendrickson High School |
