Mission Statement
The mission of the MES library is to promote a lifelong love of literature, both fiction and nonfiction. The extension of this mission is to make use of the knowledge gained through reading to help our students become smarter and more productive adults.
Library Lessons
Lessons are offered on a flexible schedule during the school day. Classes are seen on a curriculum needs basis. Teachers bring their classes to the library to use the resources and learn library skills within their grade appropriate curriculum.
Circulation of Books
Students in Kinder through fifth grade visit the library to check out reading materials individually or in small groups as the need arises. Some students visit on a daily basis others a less frequently. Students in kindergarten and first grade check out one book at a time. Students in grades 2-5 check out two books at a time. Books are due every two weeks. If a book becomes overdue, the student is blocked from borrowing any more books until the misplaced book is renewed, returned, or paid for. We do not charge late fees and refunds are given if a student pays for a lost book and then finds and returns the book.
Volunteers?
Buckaroos are the parents and community members that spend precious time as a library volunteer. We rely on many volunteer hours each week to assist students and aid in circulation. Please use this link to fill out a background check. Then visit with Ms. LaMarre to find the best time for your volunteer hours.

Accelerated Reader
Accelerated Reader, known to the students as AR, is the computerized reading comprehension program used by our school to increase the students’ reading comprehension. Books are marked with a star that represents a reading level. Rewards are given to students who meet or exceed their reading goal. Goals are based on the student's reading level range and a time frame. To successfully meet their goals, the students should read their books completely and carefully before taking the test. Testing hours for AR are 7:20 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
