PTO MINUTES

February 2,  2012

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by Debbie Schultz, Vice-President.

The minutes from the January meeting were approved.

Financial Update

JoAnn Becerra gave the update on the finances for the PTO.  So far this year the PTO has made only $1,000 profit.  We have about $4,500 in the bank.

Principal’s Update

Mr. Bauman just thanked everyone again for everything.  He showed the activities calendar for the year up on the screen.

The African American reading will be Feb. 7.  Ms. Orr needs people to help read.

Request for Donation for CHS Cougar Celebration

The PTO approved to give $50 to Debbie Brown for Cougar Celebration.

Committee Reports:

Volunteer Coordinator

LaToya Finley announced the volunteers for the month were Mr. and. Mrs. Schwarz..

Teacher Appreciation – The luncheon for February will be the 9th sponsored by 1st and 5th grade.  Soup and Salad will be served.

Spirit Night/Cart

It was decided that the Spirit Cart will be on Tuesday mornings and after school in the lobby.  Ms. Catania and Ms. Scharf will man the cart in the afternoons.

Program – t-shirts/costumes – Jill Douglas said the T-shirt painting will be Feb. 3 at 6:30 p.m.  Will need to buy the t-shirts for the 1st grade program in March at approximately $300.

Box Tops – They are due Friday, February 17.

Yearbook – Diana Pena said she needed pictures from the teachers.

Birthday Party/Anniversary Celebration

It will take place on Saturday, April 28, from 10:00 – 2:00.

Old Business

The science fair went really well.  They had great feedback.  A big thank you went to Darcy Newell for coordinating the fair.  They need a judge for the regional science fair.

New Business

Ms. Wilkinson reported the theme for the book fair will be a luau theme.  It will be February 13-17.  She needs all the help she can get.

The teacher talent show will be February 16 and they will charge $1 per child.  It will be in conjunction with the book fair at 6:30 p.m.

We had several teachers that came to the meeting and they were asked if they had any suggestions on activities we could do to possibly raise money.  Mr. Thielke suggested we have a Kids Night Out on March 2 from like 6:00 to 9:30 pm on a Friday night.  There would be pizza and drinks.  The cost would be $15 for first child and $10 for siblings.  They would need five teachers and eleven parents to help with the event.

The meeting was adjourned at about 7:45 p.m
