HomeIn addition to being a certified school counselor, I am also Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been the counselor at Northwest Elementary for the past nineteen years. Prior to that, I was an elementary school teacher here in Pflugerville, Northside Independent School District and LaMarque Independent School District. I am married and have four daughters; one has graduated from Texas State University (Go Bobcats!), another is a senior at Texas Tech University (Go Raiders!) and two are juniors at the University of Texas at Austin (Go Horns!)

Welcome to Northwest Elementary
I want your child's experience at Northwest to be a positive, enriching experience. I make an effort to get to know every student, if not by name, certainly by face. I have a variety of ways that I serve the needs of our students:
* Guidance Lessons - I will meet with each class six to seven times during the school year to discuss responsibility, goal setting, getting along with peers, problem solving and more.
*Small Group Counseling - Some students meet in small groups to work through problems or issues that the student may be facing that could be hindering their academic progress. We may meet during lunch time or at times of the day where the student will not be missing core instruction.
*Individual Counseling - Students have a variety of ways to make an appointment to visit with me about more personal issues that may be affecting their self esteem, and therefore, their academic progress. Students may 'self refer' by leaving me a note in my mailbox that is located outside my office door, teachers can make a referral if they see a student having difficulty in class or a parent/guardian may call or email me to alert me to a potential problem. I will meet with the student to understand their needs, give support and offer constructive suggestions.
*Parent/Teacher Consultation - I welcome the opportunity to visit with parents to brainstorm possible ways to manage problems their student may be experiencing. I also sit in on parent conferences with teachers to help the team approach to educating our children.
