6th grade PreAP classes have been working on Ancient Egypt and we focused on Mummies of Pharaohs for our G/T extension.   The picture is the team, which consisted of Burgess/King students, that used teamwork and their knowledge of the mummification process to create the best replica. 

Rachel's Challenge - Members of Rachel's Challenge - Friends of Rachel Service Organization is currently working with the Pflugerville Police Dept. to help gather new toys and monetary donations for the Blue Santa Program until Dec. 16th. All donations can be dropped off in the PCMS front office and/or by contacting Pam Scarbo. All donations and maoney goes toward helping needy families in the Pflugerville area.

Upcoming Events: Jeans Coupon Sales (fund raiser for faculty); Blue Santa toy drive; shop & wrap presents for Blue Santa & surprise to welcome new faculty members for the month of November.

The Science department at PCMS cordially invites you to our First Annual Science Night to be held on Thursday, December 10, 2009 from 6:00-7:30 PM.  Any time during this time frame, parents will be able to visit the school cafeteria to see various science displays and science projects.

Reminder for yearbook sales :  Yearbooks are available @ www.myyear.com for $30.00 until Dec. 1st - after that date yearbook costs will increase to $35.00.  

SCHOOL REMINDERS

• Please watch for our walkers/bike riders. We have many more students walking and riding bikes this year. Reminders that student pick up and drop off is in the back or side. The front of the building is only for buses.
• Skateboards and Bikes should be locked on the racks in the front of the building
• This year all students come in the building at 7:45. Breakfast eaters go immediately to the cafeteria. 6th grade students meet in A-Hall, 7th grade students meet in the elective hall, and 8th grade students meet in D-Hall.

Absences

Every absence requires written documentation,and an absence of three days or more due to illness requires a doctor's note.

On the first day a student returns after an absence he/she should bring a note from a parent/guardian or doctor to the attendance window. This must be done before first period and is necessary even if only a few classes were missed. The student will be issued a "blue slip" by the attendance office. It is the student's responsibility to check with each teacher for make-up work and show them the "blue slip" when he/she returns to school.

Parent Gradebook portals were passed out during schedule pick-up. If you have not received your gradebook portal please stop by the front office.
