Art Department7th & 8th grade Art7th and 8th grade Art class will begin a 3-D unit. The medium used will be cloth paper mache'. The students will create a "head & shoulders" bust of a creature called a Screamer. Teeth and eyes will be made of self hardening clay. The sculpture will be painted and shellacked. This will be a 2 week unit beginning with info. on the history of paper mache'.
6th grade Art6th grade just finished their sculpture unit. They learned about Michelangelo and Da Vinci as artists pertaining to the clay sculpture construction and subject matter. Students are now being introduced to the world of animation and creating their own flip books, (producing a moving cartoon as they flip through a 100 page booklet that they create themselves).
Art ClubArt Club is creating plaster wrap masks of their own face or from a facial mold. Some students are finishing their clay projects and their mirror etching. Art Club raised $205 by selling tissue paper carnations for Valentine's Day and for the February Fling dance. The money will be used to fund the Art Club's field trip in the spring to visit Austin museums and galleries. |
