About the Choir Director
Mrs. Sedatole is beginning her third year at Pflugerville Middle School and her 16th year of teaching choral music. Mrs. Sedatole's husband, Brian, is the head band director at Stony Point High School in the Round Rock school district. Her daughter, Kimberly, is a former PHS student that will be attending her "home" high school, Round Rock HS, as a sophomore this fall. And, Mrs. Sedatole's son, Joshua, will be a second grader at Spring Hill ES.

Region Choir Information
Auditions: January 24, 2009
Clinic/Concert: February 2, 2009
We will begin rehearsing music for Region Choir in the 7th and 8th grade choir classes in the Fall. Each student is highly encouraged to audition for the All-Region Choir. The music is chosen by a panel of directors in the region. Region Choir provides the opportunity to go through an official audition process and, if selected for the choir, students perform in a concert with the top singers from each middle school in our greater Austin area region. There are three choirs (8th Grade Girls, 7th Grade Girls, and 7th/8th Grade Boys) and each of the choirs ranges from 45-75 singers each. PMS traditionally has 10-20 singers selected for the choir!
"Pirates of Penzance, Jr."
Our school musical this year is "Pirates of Penzance, Jr." by Gilbert and Sullivan. It is an operetta style musical that is very light-hearted in nature. The Choir will serve as the chorus members for this show. I will publish a rehearsal schedule for the choir in addition to the rehearsal schedule that the cast/crew will follow. These performances will be in lieu of a Fall Concert.
Solo and Ensemble Information
The proposed date for the PISD Solo and Ensemble Contest is Saturday, October 11, 2008. All 7th and 8th Grade students will be required to enter the competition in at least one event. The 6th Grade choir students will be highly encouraged to enter as well. We will work on solo and ensemble literature in class and students will be given a practice CD so they can practice at home as well. Students that receive a First Division rating will be awarded a medal. Students receiving a Second Division rating will receive a ribbon. And, students receiving a Third Division rating will receive a certificate. This competition is a very positive based experience in which the students receive individual and group feedback from a professional singer/teacher. Last year, 95% of our students received a First Division medal! This year we will host a Solo and Ensemble Recital Night on Tuesday, October 14 to showcase the talent of our awesome singers.
Concert Information
We will have a total of seven evening performances involving PMS choir students. Some of the concerts will be for the full choir and some of them will be grade specific. The dates for all the concert performances are listed on the calendar below. One asterick indicates 6th Grade only, two astericks indicates 7th/8th only and three astericks indicates full choir.
