Extended Day Program(EDP) Tuition-Based Pre-Kindergarten Program

2014-15 Information:

The purpose of EDP Tuition-based Pre-Kindergarten is to provide onsite preschool for children who do not meet the federally funded pre-kindergarten qualification guidelines.This EDP Pre-Kindergarten Program ensures a quality pre-school classroom with state of the art, high quality instruction.


EDP Tuition-based Pre-Kindergarten 2014-15 is available to children in Pflugerville ISD attendance zones who will be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2014. Children must be potty trained and must not display any consistent disruptive behaviors that would interfere with the classroom instruction.


EDP Tuition-Based Pre-K Philosophy

  • Child-centered, research based curriculum based on the Texas Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines (including “Scholastic Big Day” and “Growing with Mathematics”).
  • Literacy-rich environment designed to prepare children for success in kindergarten.
  • Differentiated, multi-sensory instruction to introduce concepts in a culturally responsive manner.
  • Highly qualified and certified teachers.
  • Full day instructional program combined with PISD Extended Day Program after school.
  • Child to Teacher Ratio –11:1 during the instructional day and 18:1 after school.
  • Operates under the direction of Pflugerville ISD.

EDP Tuition-Based Pre-K Schedule

Beginning with the first day of instruction for the school year, the Tuition-Based Pre-Kindergarten Program is provided every day that teachers are required to report to work, including out of school time care by the EDP after school staff on professional development and teacher work days. The program also includes child care services before and after scheduled class times.

  • Children may be brought to school no earlier than 7:00 a.m. and must be picked up by a designated adult no later than 6:30 p.m.
  • Children must be signed in and out by a parent or an authorized person on a daily basis.
  • The instructional day begins at 7:40 a.m. and ends at 2:45 p.m.; at the end of the regular campus instructional day, students participate in the after-school Extended Day Program activities.
  • The instructional day is set up to include various student activities including but not limited to circle time, centers, math and literacy instruction, rest time, snack and lunch times, and physical activity time (indoor and/or outdoor).
  • Students will receive 2 snacks daily included in their monthly tuition payment; however, lunch must either be brought from home or purchased through the regular school cafeteria.

EDP Pre-K Tuition for 2014-15

  • The total 2014-15 tuition amount of $5700 will be paid in 10 equal payments which consist of the following scheduled payments:
    1) first monthly payment of $570 due at time of registration [NOTE:This first enrollment payment is non-refundable.]


     2) 9 equal monthly automatic deductions, beginning September 1, 2014 and ending May 1, 2015 for the amount of $570 per month.

    Tuition for Pre-K must be paid through electronic draft each month. The electronic draft authorization form must be completed and signed by the parent/guardian at the time of registration and will begin with the first monthly payment on September 1, 2014.
  • In the event that a parent chooses to discontinue enrollment in the EDP Tuition-Based Pre-Kindergarten program, the cancellation form must be turned in to the Extended Day Office one month in advance.
  • If the total annual tuition is paid in advance, a $200 discount will be applied tothe total amount.
  • If each semester’s tuition is paid in advance, a $100 discount will be applied to the total amount ($50 per semester).  
  • The district may not adopt a tuition rate for the Pre-Kindergarten program that is higher than necessary to cover the added costs to the district of providing the program, including any costs associated with collecting, reporting, and analyzing data under Section 29.1532 (c) and must submit the proposed rate to the commissioner for approval.


EDP Pre-K Registration Process

  • Registration for 2014-15 begins April 14, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. at the Extended Day Program office building located at 1401-D West Pecan, Pflugerville, TX78660 and will continue during regular business hours until the classes are full.
  • All enrollment paperwork and the auto draft payment form must be complete at the time of registration. Parents must also bring the following documents in order to register for EDP Tuition-Based Pre-K:

    • Proof of residency: a current     lease or mortgage statement or current utility bill; (Please note: The     only bills accepted are gas, water or electric service. For new     Pflugerville residents, a utility work order will be accepted. Proof of     residency must be dated within 30 days of enrollment. If proof of     residence is not in parent’s name, you must have a notarized Student     Residency Form signed by the residence owner.) Temporary Residency Form     signed by the residence owner. Owner must produce Proof of Residency as     listed above and photo identification;
    • A certified copy of the student’s birth certificate;
    • The student’s social security card;
    • Proof of student’s up-to-date immunization record; and
    • Parent/Guardian’s valid Texas driver’s license, valid Texas Photo Identification Card or other acceptable picture identification reflecting current address.
  • The non-refundable payment of 10% of the yearly tuition is due at the time of enrollment.
  • After all positions have been filled, an official waiting list will be developed.

Other PISD Pre-K Options  (Half Day and Full Day Programs)

Pflugerville ISD also offers federally funded pre-kindergarten to children who are four years old on or before September 1st who qualify under the federal pre-kindergarten guidelines. To qualify the child must meet one of the following criteria: limited English proficiency, economically disadvantaged, homeless, active military service or injured in line of duty, or in conservatorship of the state of Texas. NOTE: Students who qualify for the federally funded pre-K program and attend a 2014-15 pre-K class at Brookhollow Elementary, Dearing Elementary, or Northwest Elementary will be able to enroll in a tuition-based Pre-K Wrap-Around Extended Day Program only available at these 3 sites.
