Counselor's Corner

The mission of the Westview Middle School Guidance and Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program addressing the personal/social, academic and career development of all students.

Personal and Social Development

Individual Counseling

If a student is in need of individual counseling they will need to complete a “Counselor Request Form” located outside each counselor’s door.   Counselors will then call students to their office for a counseling session.

Counseling Groups

Counselors visited each of the classrooms and made students aware of the counseling groups available this Fall.Parents wanting their children to participate need to fill out the parent permission form that was given to each student.The counseling groups are listed below:

  1. Study Skills
  2. Assertiveness and Self Esteem
  3. Death of a Family Member or Friend
  4. Family Divorces or Changes
  5. Alcohol and Other Drugs

Schedule Changes

 

Pre-AP schedule change requests

  • Student and or parent(s) must consult with the teacher and have a signed notice from teacher granting student permission to drop the course, in which case the student will be moved to a regular version of the class if one exists and there is space available.
  • Students may be moved out of a Pre-AP class anytime during the first 6 weeks. After that, students or parent initiated moves are not allowed. Student may be moved only at the discretion of the principal.
