The WMS library continually gathers materials and develops programming to
reflect the learning and recreational reading needs of our widely diversified
community. Our collection of Bilingual materials has increased to include both
fiction and non-fiction works in a variety of languages. We subscribe to over 40
periodicals, representative of our curriculum and the interests of our student
population.
READING EVENTS
Book Fairs
"Babies in Bookland " (Scholastic book fair) will be open the first week of December.
Students will be able to purchase books, hot beverages, and miscellaneous items
The Spring Book Fair will be held the week of May 19-23, 2008
100 Point Club Trip
Reward field trip to Austin Parks 'n Pizza Wednesday, May 14., 2008

READING PROGRAMS
100 Point Club
Accelerated Reader books have a YELLOW dot/label on the spine.
Students earning 100 AR points are eligible to participate in the 100 Point
Club reward field trip to Austin Parks 'n Pizza.

Blue Star Readers & Lone Star Lines
Earn prizes for reading Lone Star and Bluebonnet books!
Enter the Lone Star or Bluebonnet books you have read and passed the AR test (70% or higher) in the Blue Star Binder to earn prizes.
Fill out a "Lone Star Lines" form and turn it in when you return your library books.
If your "LSL" is chosen for the announcement and/or posted in the library main hall windowyou can come to the library to choose your prize from the "Winner's Prize Box".
The Corner to Remember
“The Corner to Remember” is a comfortable reading nook, with a selection
of books purchased by the community and dedicated for a variety of reasons,
and kept for future readers.

Brag Box (collection display)
Students and staff are invited to bring in their collections to be displayed for a week or more in the Brag Box.
Library Vending Machine Prizes
Pens, pencils (both regular and mechanical), and notebook paper are available for purchase in the main hallway. There will be one item in each box with a "You are a WINNER" sticker. If you get an item with the "You are a WINNER" sticker, bring it to the library to choose an item from the "Winner's Prize Box".

Parents may request to have an account set up so that they can check their students' testing and scores at home. Students cannot test from home, but parents can see what their child is testing on and how they are doing. To make this request, email the librarian: cheryl.michulka@pflugervilleisd.net

2007-2008 Lonestar Books
The Texas Lone Star Reading List is a reading list developed by public and school librarians to encourage students in grades 6, 7, or 8 to explore a variety of current books.

2007-2008 Bluebonnet Books
The Texas Bluebonnet Award Reading List is a reading list developed by two committees in the Texas Library Association. Established in 1979, this program "encourages Texas students in grades 3 through 6 to read more books, explore a variety of current books, develop powers of discrimination, and identify their favorite books."

Student Access
During Class Time: Students may come to the library with their class or individually with
a signed pass from their teacher. Students coming individually must sign in.
During Lunch: Students may come to the library with a pass signed by a teacher.
Students must sign in.
After School: Students do not need a pass, but must sign in.
At all times, students should have their ID with them.
Student passes should be stamped when they leave the library.
Students may use computers with a pass from a teacher.
Parent accounts are available-contact the library
Check Out Policy
Students may check out books, magazines, videos, audio books and reference materials.
Students may have three items checked out for a two week period, unless:
The item is marked “Overnight Use Only”
The item is a periodical
The student has items overdue
The student has fines from overdue/damaged books
Books can be renewed as often as desired, unless the item has been reserved by another student.
Check In Policy
Books can be returned to the Purple Mailbox outside the library doors, or placed in the book return at the circulation desk.
Students are expected to return materials on time. We give a three day grace period, and then charge a dime a day (capped at $2.00) for overdue materials. Materials not returned must be paid for. Overdue notices are normally distributed through Language Arts classes the third week of each month.
