General Information:

ELA Philosophy

In order to nurture the development of the individual as a participating citizen in a local, state, national, and global community, language arts education must prepare students to be effective recipients and senders of communication. Therefore, the integrated language arts curriculum must develop critical thinkers who are receptive listeners, discerning readers, expressive oral readers, and fluent, analytical writers. Through the development of these attributes and exposure to numerous and varied literary and multi media pieces, the curriculum must foster a lifelong appreciation of texts through which students develop an understanding of varied cultures, times, viewpoints, beliefs, problems, and solutions.

This website makes available to teachers the English Language Arts TEKS, and Scope and Sequence, organized by grade level.
