A Listening Skill: The student listens critically to analyze and evaluate a speaker’s message. Angles: The student will create and label right, acute, and obtuse angles. Animal Tracks: Students will create sets of footprints and make interpretations based on evidence. A Government Tree: The student will create and analyze a web in Inspiration that visually represents the three branches of local, state, and national government.
Reading Log: Students will keep database records of books they have read
throughout the year.
Battleship: The student will play battleship on a hundredths grid. Water Cycle: Students will brainstorm existing knowledge of the water cycle in a graphic organizer. A Letter to Congress: The student will write a persuasive letter to his/her state representative.
Story Web: The student will learn outlining and story webbing, alternately, while
demonstrating comprehension of a selected piece of reading.
Congruent and Similar Figures: The student will create congruent and similar figures. The student will also investigate the congruency of the figures by rotating, reflecting, and transforming them. Buoyancy: Students will make a table of objects and predict if they will float or sink. A Texas KWL: The student will brainstorm prior knowledge and questions about Texas in Inspiration.
All About Me: The students will use Inspiration and Power Point to create a
timeline of their lives.
Creating Problems with Multiplication: The student will collect and use data from websites of interest to create a multiple digit multiplication problem. Conservation Presentation: Students will create a multimedia presentation of ways to conserve or recycle. Battle Flip Chart: The student will research the battles of the Texas Revolution using the Internet. The student will create a flip book of the battles of the Texas Revolution using Word Art in Microsoft Word.
Writing a Friendly Letter: The student will learn the correct format of a friendly letter while working in a database format. Divide Your Time: The student will represent the time spent in after school activities as portions of an hour and draw a figure to illustrate the fractional parts of a whole. Ecosystems: Students will make a table comparing the characteristics of a coral reef and a tropical rain forest. Graphing the Population of Texas: The student will collect data about the population of selected Texas cities from the Internet, transfer the data into a spreadsheet, and create a graph to visually represent the information.
Colored Parts of Speech: The student will practice his/her knowledge of the English rules governing parts of speech.
Do You Know Your Math Facts?: The student will play interactive Internet games to practice math facts (multiplication, division...). Matter: Students will illustrate the different states of matter-solid, liquid, and gas. Reading the News: The student will read a news article and gather information by looking for the five W ’s.
Word Meaning Web: The student will practice his/her knowledge of vocabulary by
locating the various meanings of multiple meaning words.
Flipping Over Pennies: The student will predict how many times a penny will land “heads-up” and test the prediction. The student will record the data in a spreadsheet and create a graph to represent the results. Migration: Students will draw and label the migration pattern of a chosen animal. Sam Houston Scavenger Hunt: The student will acquire information about Sam Houston using the Sam Houston Memorial Museum website.
Word Art: The student will practice using capitalization correctly. Formula for Area and Perimeter: The student will create a formula in a spreadsheet program to find the area and perimeter of rectangles and squares, and use the data to find patterns. Rotation of the Earth: Students will measure the length of an object’s shadow and use the data to create a graph. Senator Teams: The student will research the profiles of senators in the Texas Legislature and discuss their leadership qualities.
Idioms: The student will demonstrate the understanding of figurative language. Holiday Shopping: The student will collect the prices of products from company websites, enter the prices into Microsoft Excel, and use the sum function to help limit holiday shopping to under $150. Scientist Biographies: Students will research a scientist on the Internet and present report to class. Six Flags Over Texas: The student will create a timeline in Microsoft Power Point that represents the different leadership in Texas history.
Keyboarding: The student will increase speed in keyboarding practice. How Much Is a Million?: The student will learn about base ten relationships by typing one million dots. Series Circuit Diagram: Students will create a diagram of a simple series circuit using drawing software. Texas Trivia: The student will read an article about Texas facts and then take an online trivia quiz about the information.
Spelling Spreadsheet: The student will demonstrate correct spelling and an understanding of the various parts of speech associated with the chosen
words.
Make a Map: The student will create a road map with a scale. The student will write three word problems using data from his/her map. The Spread of Seeds: Students will create a booklet illustrating different ways seeds are dispersed. Famous Texans in the State Cemetery: The student will research the lives of the people buried in the Texas State Cemetery using the Internet and present a Power Point presentation.
Fortunately-Unfortunately: The student will recognize a cause and effect
relationship by using a computerized storyboard of an invented story.
Multiple Digit Multiplication Arrays: The student will create arrays in a spreadsheet program for multiple digit multiplication problems.   Latitude and Longitude: The student will demonstrate an understanding of latitude and longitude lines in Texas using a drawing or painting application. -
Fractured Fairy Tale: The student will become familiar with fairy tales and
fractured fairy tales; reading and writing skills are incorporated.
Mystery Picture: The student will recreate a picture in a drawing program by following “clues” which are in geometric language.   Texas Indians WebQuest: The student will increase his knowledge of the Indians native to our state of Texas.
  Popping Bar Graphs: The student will collect and enter data about popular popcorn flavors into a spreadsheet. The student will use the data to create a bar graph.
  Timeline: Students will create a timeline of the important events of Texas in the Civil War.
  Prove It!: The student will create pictorial representations of sets of fractions to prove whether they are equal or to show which is greater.   Texas Regional Weather: Students will gather weather data of the different regions of Texas and analyze results.
  Quadrilaterals: The student will create a web in Inspiration to represent and organize the characteristics of the different types of quadrilateral figures.   Explorers of the Southwest: Students will present information about explorers in table format.
  Shape Acrobatics: The student will construct different two-dimensional shapes using drawing tools while listening to The Greedy Triangle.    
  Virtual Decimals: The student will manipulate virtual base ten decimal blocks to solve addition and subtraction problems.
