Frequently Asked Questions

New Teachers

Q: Am I required to attend all the BRIDGE meetings?

A: You are HIGHLY encouraged to attend, but you may be required to attend by your principal. Many of the campuses have mandatory professional development for the first year teachers and use the BRIDGE meetings as part of their program. The meetings always address the needs and concerns of first year teachers and are also a good way to network with new teachers from other campuses who may be experiencing some of the same situations you are now facing.

Q: What do I need to do to take the release day you mentioned at the August meeting for new teachers?

A: First, and most important, you need to check with your principal about this. You and your mentor may want use this day to work together on the TxBESS Activity Profile (TAP), or you may choose to use it to observe other classrooms on the campus or in the district. For example, an art teacher may want to visit the art teacher on another campus.

Mentors

Q: What documentation do I need to turn in from my BRIDGE mentoring?

For Level One mentoring, we ask that you spend at least 30 minutes per week with your mentee and that you document this on the appropriate Mentor Log.
