Parent & Community Involvement
PISD will communicate with parents and encourages participation in a variety of ways:
- District brochure on the Advanced Academics Program distributed to all parents with registration materials at the time of
initial registration and annual registrations
- Course guides and choice sheets
- Communication with parents of AdA students during campus open house nights
- Parent Notification of Service letter (included in appendix)
- Annual Parent meeting with teachers at the end of the school year
- Annual parent/teacher/student conference
- Annual Product Fair to allow students opportunity to display their research projects to parents and other interested parties
Additionally, PISD will inform and involve community members in the Advanced Academics Program. This includes:
- District Academic Advisory Committee subcommittee on Advanced Academic Services
- Products and achievements of AdA students shared with the community in the local newspaper, district newsletter and at community functions
- Presentations given to community groups such as the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club and local businesses to solicit involvement in services for gifted students
- A resource guide of community options that will appropriately enhance the development of AdA students
