Technology Grants
TIFB - Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board
- What is it?
The TIFB awards funding to help Texas public schools,
colleges/ universities, public libraries, and nonprofic
healthcare facilities develop an advanced telecommunications
infrastructure. The TIFB also supports technology training
programs and encourages quality content that strengthens
education, healthcare, and libraries in Texas. Currently
25% of each grant must be allocated to professional development
and must involve all certified staff.
- What have we done?
As of May 2002, PISD has been awarded $1,213,000.00
in TIFB grants.
The following improvements have been made possible with
funds awarded from Public School 8 (PS8) TIFB grants:
Campus: PCMS, PMS,
WMS
Local-Area Network Upgrades
Staff Training (TIFTech, Connected University)
Campus: BES, DES,
NES, PLE, PES, ROE, SHE, TES, WES
Lab replaced at each campus
Local-Area Network Upgrades
Purchase of some peripheral devices
Training (TIFTech, Connected University)
