The Hendrickson High School Fire Academy (HHSFA) in partnership with the Pflugerville Fire Department/Travis County ESD 2
is a Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) certified training program. Successful graduates of the HHSFA are eligible to take the TCFP Structural Fire Fighter certification exam. Students can begin a career in the fire service or the emergency services with the TCFP Structural Fire Fighter Certification.
The HHSFA introduces students to the firefighting career. Students will understand the Texas Commission on Fire Protection rules and regulations, proper incident reporting and recordkeeping, proper use of personal protection equipment, and the principles of fire safety.

January 24 - junior class meeting with Travis County ESD 2, Pflugerville Fire Department – HHS PAC, 8:50-9:25 a.m.
February 24 - completed applications due to Chief Mike Baker (ret.), room B109 no later than 4:30 PM. Late and/or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
March 2 - Applicants meeting for questions and answers with Academy staff. Interview schedule presented. Time and Location TBA. (determined by the number of applicants).
March 31 - the 24 students selected will be notified during the day by Chief Baker and TCESD 2 staff. Selected students will be given the date, time and location for the mandatory cadet, parent/guardian meeting. All of the rest of the forms and paperwork will be passed out at this meeting.
April 27 - Mandatory parent/cadet meeting to answer questions, size uniforms, sign release forms and discuss future calendar dates.
