    Wowville Incentive Day:

Friday, June 1st is our amazing Wowville Incentive Day.  Students have worked hard being Safe, Respectful and Responsible to maintain their tickets for the event.  Each grade level will have a little over one hour outside to engage in fun including bouncy houses, obstacle course, climbing wall and “foam fun.”  To help ensure this is an awesome time, please encourage your child to wear cool but appropriate clothing, a hat, sunscreen and bring water.  With the addition of “foam fun” and possible water stations, we are not sure how wet and uncomfortable students will be after engaging in the activities.  Thus, we encourage students to wear clothing that will dry quickly and water shoes or bring a change of clothes and shoes for after their designated times.

Incentive Day times will be as follows:

    7:50-8:55            3rd  Grade

    8:55 – 10:00       1st  Grade

    10:00 – 11:05     5th  Grade

    11:05 - 12:10      Kindergarten and Pre-K/Pegasus

    12:10-1:15          2nd  Grade

    1:15-2:20            4th Grade

Also, students in 2nd – 5th grades that met their AR goals will be celebrating their successes in the Library on Friday with author Tim Tingle.  All Kinder and 1st graders will celebrate this next week.

    AR Celebrations:

    4th & 5th Grades – 8:15 – 9:10

    2nd & 3rd Grades – 9:30-10:20

    From Nurse Carse:

If your student has medications in the nurse’s office (including over-the-counter and prescription), please come to the school to pick up the medicine by June 6 (the last day of school).  Any medication not picked up by the end of school will be destroyed at the end of the day; please know that medications cannot be sent home with students.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

    From Chief Petherbridge:

There will be helicopter activity at the Costco Construction site near SH130 and Kelly Ln this Thursday May 31st, 2018 from 8am to noon.  They will be lifting the AC units onto the roof from the parking lot.  Traffic should not be affected and all operations will be contained to the construction site.

    Safety Concern~

With recent rains, we have seen an increase of parents dropping students off in the middle of Benning Drive (the road directly in front of Murchison) then doing a U-turn to exit and avoid the traffic.  We are aware that traffic is cumbersome and is intensified with inclement weather, but please understand that our students are not safe from inattentive drivers and other factors when let out in the middle of a street in a high traffic area.  Please consider leaving the house a bit earlier on rainy days and/or be prepared to be patient as we try to get cars unloaded as quickly as possible.  A student’s safety should never be compromised by the impatience of adults.

    From Mrs. Sanchez ~

Our Pennies for Patients campaign was a huge success!  Our campus raised $5793.74 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help fight blood related cancers in children.  I could not be more proud of our students, parents and staff for the overwhelming support for this campaign.  Our top three classes were Amy Lebakken’s 4th grade class who raised $283.93, Traci McBain’s PreK class who raised $500.72 and Emily Clifton’s 5th grade homeroom class who raised a whopping $830.53!!! Mrs. Clifton’s class will be treated to a pasta party from Olive Garden for raising the most money.  Your support is very much appreciated!  Sincerely, Dana Sanchez, MES Counselor

For our career day on April 27, we will be hosting a Touch a Truck event.  It is my goal to find multiple vehicles to come to MES to explain their jobs and let our students roam around looking at all the vehicles.  If you know if anyone who has a career related vehicle that would be willing to come to MES from 9:00 to 12:00 that day, please feel free to email me their information at dana.sanchez@pfisd.net.  Thanks for your help, Dana Sanchez, MES Counselor

    Boosterthon ~

Our Murchison Elementary Fun Run kicked off today with an exciting Pep Rally, and we are thrilled about this year’s program! We’ve asked the Fun Run experts at Boosterthon to power our Fun Run program (which will last about two weeks), making our fundraising simpler, more profitable, and more fun. Our Fun Run includes EVERY student in a fun, fitness event while helping our school raise much-needed funds.

This year, our entire school is raising funds for our End of the Year Student Incentive Party, Improved Playground Equipment and a New Electronic Marquee! Our goal is to raise $25,000, and we need YOUR help!

Here’s how you can support Murchison Elementary:

    • Register your student on funrun.com using this code: 141-296. Once you do, your student will receive a FREE GIFT just for being registered. Then, use funrun.com to log pledges for your child.
    • Reach out to sponsors. Every student’s goal is to connect with 10 sponsors. And with funrun.com’s smart sharing features, reaching out to sponsors is easier than ever. The easiest way to get pledges is to simply click the Facebook share button on your student’s pledge page. Plus, with a few clicks you can create a custom Student Star video to share on social media. You can also use the Easy Emailer to connect with friends and family. As you gather pledges, be sure to record each sponsor’s e-mail address so they have the opportunity to easily pay for your student’s pledge online via credit card.
    • Ask your child about the Castle Quest Character Lesson of the day! This year’s character program is Castle Quest, a castle theme all about bravery. On their quest to regain Bravemore Castle, students will learn the “SIX VIRTUES of a TRUE HERO” from a cast of colorful characters. Join along by watching the fun character videos with your child on funrun.com.
    • Come to the Fun Run on March 9th! All students are included in the Fun Run, regardless of financial participation. Remember, students will be running 30-35 laps, and we would love for you to come out and cheer!
Thank you for supporting our school. We hope to see you next week at the Fun Run on Friday, March 9th at the HHS Stadium!
