PISD Teacher Job Fair March 29, Connally High School

Campus administrators will be available to meet with prospective employees

Pflugerville Independent School District will host its annual Teacher Job Fair on March 29, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Connally High School. The job fair, designed to give teachers who possess a valid teaching certificate an opportunity to meet face-to-face with principals and other district administrators, is a great resource for teachers who want to join the Pflugerville family of educators.

Pflugerville Director of Human Resources Willie Watson believes prospective PISD teachers should jump at the opportunity to participate in the event.

"The job fair gives principals a chance to put a face to a name," Watson said. "PISD processes thousands of applications each year, and the job fair gives the applicants an opportunity to set themselves apart from the crowd."

According to Daniel Garcia, Connally High School principal, campus administrators appreciate the chance to visit with numerous applicants in one day.

"The PISD job fair is useful for principals because we are able to focus on the specific teacher needs of our campus," Garcia said. "It is also beneficial for job seekers, as they are able to visit with several potential employers without having to travel long distances or schedule several different meetings."

In some cases, job contracts may be offered on the spot.

"When appropriate, it is possible for us to go ahead and offer teachers a contract, and that certainly happens in some cases," Watson said.

Pflugerville ISD’s roots go back to a white two-story brick building, built in 1907. Nearly 21,000 students are currently enrolled on 26 campuses, and enrollment is expected to more than double to over 40,000 students in the next 10 years. Only 10 years ago, the District had less than 10,000 students enrolled. The District continues to grow rapidly, as families make their homes in these communities to take advantage of their appealing proximity to Austin.
