Board of Trustees Taps Padavil, Monzingo as Middle School Principals

Devin Padavil named principal at Kelly Lane; Denise Monzingo to lead Park Crest

The Pflugerville ISD Board of Trustees named principals for Kelly Lane and Park Crest middle schools at its workshop meeting on May 1. Hendrickson High School associate principal Devin Padavil was named Kelly Lane principal, and Dessau Elementary principal Denise Monzingo will lead Park Crest.

““Middle school is a time of transition for students, when they move from childhood into being young adults. It is essential to provide those students with exceptional leaders who can guide them through their early teenage years, both in an educational sense and on a personal level,” Pflugerville ISD Superintendent of Schools Charles Dupre said. “Devin and Denise have proven themselves as instructional leaders, while at the same time showing the ability to mold young men and women into our leaders for the future.”

Devin Padavil

Padavil came to Hendrickson in 2005 as an assistant principal for the class of 2007. He was instrumental in creating a freshman mentoring and transition program, and served on the district advisory committee, where he led a sub-committee on a ninth-grade transition program. In his current position as associate principal, he is responsible for curriculum and instruction and leads the campus’s professional development efforts. He served as summer school principal at Connally High School in 2007.

Prior to his stint at Hendrickson, Padavil served for two years as an assistant principal at Covington Middle School in Austin. He was also an assistant principal at Cactus Ranch Elementary in Round Rock.

Padavil has a master’s degree in educational administration from The University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelor of Science in education from Illinois State.

Denise Monzingo

Monzingo is no stranger to the Pflugerville community; she is a Pflugerville High School graduate and long-time PISD staff member. She was named principal at Dessau Elementary in 2004, and by the following year, the Title I campus was rated Recognized by the Texas Education Agency.

As an assistant principal at Dessau Middle School from 2002 to 2004, Monzingo created a master schedule for more than 850 students and was responsible for the special education and language arts departments. She was named Region 13 Assistant Principal of the Year in 2003-04.

Monzingo holds a Master of Education from Texas State University, and a bachelor’s degree in education from The University of Texas at Austin.

Padavil replaces Rachelle Warren, who has accepted a job as assistant director of human resources in the District. Monzingo takes over from Steve Fuller, who is retiring at the end of the year after serving as Park Crest principal since the campus opened in 1995.
