Westview Middle School Orchestra Wins Sweepstakes
UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest Held in Hays CISD
Westview Middle School Advanced Orchestra recently participated in the UIL Concert & Sight Reading contest, held at the Hays CISD performing arts center. Despite being the first Pflugerville school to participate in the contest, the Westview group experienced tremendous success. The orchestra was named UIL Sweepstakes winner, with an overall score of Superior, and earned Superior ratings in both the concert and sight-reading portions of the contest.
The orchestra, which is only three years old, performed Tchaikovsky’s “Little Russian March (from Symphony No. 2), “Spring Breezes (folk song from Taiwan), and “When Johnny Comes Marching Home”.
Westview Orchestra: Rachel Kail, Destinee Garcia, Steffany Hagedorn, Alice Lam, Cristina Corales, Priest Anderson, Amy Hammack, Emma Hardison, Erin Smith, Kenny Xu, Cathy Garcia, August Untermeyer, Tyra Glasper, and Carlos Tapia.
